One year focused on Joy, a year devoted to Grieving, a year empowered by Growth, and now this year Driven by Hope.
Hope, such a common word, but in my life, a driving force. It all started as a little girl, truly believing the Cinderella story. Knowing that there had to be more out there. Something Big. Something true. I was…hopeful.
There was no way abuse and molestation was going to define me. The little girl within me had a greater perspective and that perspective leaned down and leaned in. He placed His hand under my chin, lightly lifting my face to His, eye looking in eye…and He smiled.
When God saw me, He placed Hope in my heart and Hope was His Son. He found me and saved me and reassured me; there was definitely something greater for me than the circumstances I found myself in.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
Hope is that yearning deep within my heart that tells me everything may not be just right but it will be alright. This same hope promises me a better tomorrow. It scrapes the scales from my eyes and reveals a clearer mission.
Romans 5:3-5 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
In 2014, my year was full of Joy, but as it rolled into 2015, Grief reared its head. In 2016, I chose to endure, Grow, leading me to continued education, deeper investigation, and Future Hope.
Hebrews 6:19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,
My heart has been reignited, my vision cleared, and my hope lays ahead of me. So this year, I choose HOPE. Hope for what is unseen, but known. Hope for the transformation of the lives around me. Hope to focus on that which lies ahead and not behind.
What’s your Word of the Year? Focus inward and onward, in Hope!
