Humble yourself – before God humbles you.
Ezekiel 28:4-7 “By your wisdom and understanding you have gained wealth for yourself and amassed gold and silver in your treasuries. By your great skill in trading you have increased your wealth, and because of your wealth your heart has grown proud. “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “‘Because you think you are wise, as wise as a god, I am going to bring foreigners against you, the most ruthless of nations; they will draw their swords against your beauty and wisdom and pierce your shining splendor.”
I’ve always enjoyed the process of working hard, always trying to do my very best, especially when I know the fruit from my work will bring a bountiful harvest.
HOWEVER, I learned a huge lesson some years back and that is: whatever You do better be what the Lord wants you to do and it better be done to Glorify Him and NOT you.
For instance, my writing, if it were up to me, I’d rather not write. I’ve never been an acclaimed writer, but God uses it. Honestly, I only write in the hopes that others may come to know Him, that you may grow closer to Him and that He may be Glorified.
Don’t get me wrong, I love getting my thoughts down on paper because there are so many of them and they tend to clutter my mind, but it takes a lot of time to get them in order and understandable for you and anyone else to read. If it were up to me, I’d be an “writer” if that’s all I had to do, but at this time I have 1 that calls me wife, 3 that call me mom, mama, mommy, and not to mention an actual J. O. B.
Then theirs that, the “work” I do. I promise, that’s not me either. I’ve always wanted to help people, a doctor, I thought, but God had other plans. He changed my goal from being able to heal people’s brain to heal and restore their heart. His goal through me is to help others in need by the Love of Christ.
Any need, any one, and I’m there.
This is definitely not for me to feel better or to help me in any way, truthfully, I do this because God speaks to me and moves me, Every. Single. Time.
Years ago this amazing man was fighting a hard battle with cancer. He didn’t fight for himself, He fought to Glorify Christ.
His life verse:
Micah 6:8, “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
He eventually lost his battle with cancer BUT through it He won so many to Christ.
This is what Christ requires of us. Nothing more, nothing less, just this, Seek Justice, Love Mercy, and Walk Humbly with God.
But if we claim the work we’ve done for ourselves, that we’ve accomplished it, then God will step in and accomplish it for us!
And that my friends is not fun.
So humble yourself before God humbles you. Seek Him first, see what it is He wants from you, and then work with all your might to glorify Him.
Even though we work in a “Me” society, let’s focus on an(Other) world.
