Day 236 –
What is God trying to show you?
Ezekiel 40:4 “The man said to me, “Son of man, look carefully and listen closely and pay attention to everything I am going to show you, for that is why you have been brought here. Tell the people of Israel everything you see.”
God is always trying to reveal something to us by the things He’s placed around us. Yet, often we are unable to see what it is.
It’s not that we are blind or that it’s too hard to grasp, but most often it’s because we aren’t able to focus in due to the distractions around us. We get lost in the fog of the mundane, the darkness of evil, and the heaviness of grief in the world, causing the clarity of His Glory to be hidden from our sight.
For us to see all He has for us we must lean in close to Him, push off every hindrance, anything that doesn’t matter, and keep our eyes directly on what is right in front of our noses….
After a long day, waking, feeding, dressing the kids, work, taxi-driving the kids around, dog-walking, dinner, dishes, and laundry, my mind normally turns into a big pile of MUSH. Oh I get it, that’s how you probably feel as well, but I’ve found if I start my day with God and seek Him as I shut my eyes, clarity comes from a yearning to know Him more.
I’ve often felt Him saying, Look around Kristen. I’ve got so much for you to do. Look and see all that I’ve already given to you. Breath in the freshness of all my creation and the goodness that is out there. Then I get interrupted in my thoughts and prayers by 10,000 items on my todo list and 100 questions from my kiddos. (And they all need me too!) That’s when I realized it was essential to set aside time when the children aren’t awake, when I haven’t scheduled others things, even if it means taking time out of sleep, for me to lean in near to Him, to be able to see more clearly.
It’s in those quiet times that we can see most clearly because the rest of the world hasn’t given up its rest to find rest in Him.
So what is God trying to show you? What’s hindering you from seeing all He is trying to show you? He wants you to see this world we live in through His Eyes, unshaded, unhindered, absolutely clear, and filled with love.
Take the time to lean in to Him so that you can see more clearly the plans He has for you, the gifts He has given to you, and the people He has placed around you to love. Then you will be Looking through the eyes of Jesus and together with Him you will see a whole new world.
