On my knees.

Day 237 –

The Glory of God can bring you to your knees.

Ezekiel 43:2-3 “and I saw the glory of the God of Israel coming from the east. His voice was like the roar of rushing waters, and the land was radiant with his glory. The vision I saw was like the vision I had seen when he came to destroy the city and like the visions I had seen by the Kebar River, and I fell facedown.”

Why do you think those in the Old Testament who saw the glory of God, fell facedown?

I believe the Glory of God was to much for them, causing their immediate instincts to humble themselves physically before Him.

In this same way, when the people of God sought Him in prayer, they wouldn’t just nonchalantly bow their head and say grace. Instead they came from near and far to the altar, turning to the east and falling to their knees, facedown in prayer.

I believe this was their way of picturing God sitting in the East at the altar in all His Glory. So they would humble themselves and magnify Him by falling to their knees in prayer.

Many times in the Word of God you will see the people of God seeking the Glory of God by falling before God in prayer.

It’s not mandated, you don’t see Jesus telling his disciples they must do this, but as I picture Jesus in the Garden on His last day, praying out His last requests to the Lord, I picture this humble submission as His probable position of prayer.

Its a way of saying, through action, God, you are majestic, you are so much greater than me. Hallowed be thy name.

No one is being forced, but all are recognizing His Glory and falling before Him.

As I pray, I think on these examples, turn to the east, and as long as I’m able, get down on my knees, close my eyes and pray. I picture God sitting on a thrown right in front of me in all His Glory almost putting His hand on my shoulder saying, I hear you and I love you.

My posture of prayer is my way of showing God that I come humbly, completely surrendered to His will.

So how do you pray? Do you picture God’s Glory before you? Do you feel His presence in the room?

Why not try going before Him in the East, face down to His Glory and before His throne. And if you don’t know what to say, just lay with your face to the ground and Let God speak to your soul.
