Day 263 –
United we stand, divided we fall.
Matthew 12:25 “Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.”
Every relationship is different but any relationship divided will eventually collapse if never mended.
On the flip side, every relationship United together will strengthen and grow.
Jesus said this truth is the same for our relationships, our homes, our cities, and our nations.
I’ve watched as 40 year marriages have fallen apart, once thriving cities have turned into ghost towns, and a nation founded on “We the People of the United…” has become completely divided.
It’s sad. Saddening. Disheartening. And Scary to think, now that we’re divided when will we fall?! Yet, we also have a promise and a choice to turn back to the truth in each of these relationships and unified bodies.
We can still be ONE. “One Nation Under GOD”. “One body in Christ.”
We can be United if we choose to turn from our divisions, seek forgiveness, and put Christ at the center of it all! Every relationship, every home, every city, and every nation.
Recently I had lunch with a sweet friend, and we were discussing how when we are invested in a relationship it’s so much easier to stay on track. Diets don’t seem as restricting when your friends are doing the diets with you, and runs don’t seem as long when you have someone by your side. But when someone walks away from the diet or stops showing up for the run, both good intentions fade away with the separation of friends and you get stuck in the muck of not wanting to continue.
When we place Christ in the center of it all nothing can pull us apart. But when we remove Him from the equation, we give way to allowing other things to pull us apart and for what was once unified to become divided.
Meeting with other like minded people brings encouragement in the mix, and when encouragement comes a strengthening will occur. Uniting and reuniting brings joy to hard days and tough nights. We are one home and one family and joining together strengthens even the darkest times.
For we know, when we are separated Satan has a foothold, but when we are united: shame will fall and love will grow. We are standing as One Family fully United in Christ!
“For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” Matthew 12:50.
We are family through Christ! And it’s time we Become United as one.
