Day 269 –
Proclaim His Story in your story to Magnify Him.
Mark 5:14-16 “The herdsmen fled and told it in the city and in the country. And people came to see what it was that had happened. And they came to Jesus and saw the demon-possessed man, the one who had had the legion, sitting there, clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid. And those who had seen it described to them what had happened to the demon-possessed man and to the pigs.”
Jesus can use us whenever, however, and wherever He wants. And when He chooses to use us, it’s in places and situations where He’s needed most.
However, when He gives us this opportunity, many times we get distracted from His Truth and use the opportunity to magnify ourselves. Jesus didn’t come to Make us Famous, He came to Save us and Enable us to Proclaim His love to others.
Jesus is our greatest example of the image we bear.
And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man.
1 Corinthians 15:49
When He was among all the people He gave His time, words, compassion, mercy and grace to those seeking Him, but among His disciples, those who knew Him most, He got deeper, stronger, and undoubtedly more firm. For Jesus wanted His disciples to be able to go out into the world and do as He did after He left them to go to Heaven.
As Jesus begins a work in our life we are like those following Him, wanting to hear His words and needing to be healed by Him; once We accept Him into our heart and He is embedded and flowing through our body and soul, it is our turn to be grown by Him like His disciples.
Jesus wants us to use the Testimony He’s given us to Glorify Him and lead others to Him, not to make ourselves more famous but to Glorify Him to others. The testimony in us is not ours but His and He wants us to use it. Sometimes He will choose to continue to pour into us for a time, and other times He knows the change in us is so drastic that he bids us farewell, encouraging us to lead others to Him by what He’s already done.
Mark 5:18-20 “As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him. And he did not permit him but said to him, “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled.”
I don’t know where you fall on the spectrum, but listen and see whether Jesus is choosing to grow you still or encourage you out.
As Believers, we carry a gift, a story all our own, one we call our testimony, given to us to use for Him.
God created us for a purpose, as a well-crafted vessel, to be a reflection of Him. Let’s use this story, our testimony, to make His name Famous, so that others may be saved, and find the same hope and healing that we have received.
