Day 270 –
Use the salt before you lose the salt.
Mark 9:50 “Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, how will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”
Anyone that knows me well enough knows I love salt; I don’t just like it, I love it, and like the country song goes, “I want some more of it.” To me, salt makes just about everything better, including melons and ice, that’s right, plain ole’ ice and salt.
I can’t imagine how disappointed I would be if I placed salt on my food and the salt no longer made my food salty.
Jesus said, salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness what good is it for. He was speaking of the Passion of faith that burns in our soul.
If we have faith but lose the passion to proclaim it daily what good is our faith?
Faith on its own is good, it’s where our trust in Jesus begins, but faith not put into action is worthless. We can’t make salt salty again and we may never have the same opportunity twice to share faith with a family member or friend.
Our faith is believing the miracle will happen but trusting Him even if it doesn’t. It’s taking every opportunity to live out our beliefs instead of cowering behind the thoughts and opinions of others. It’s loving our enemy, our neighbor, the orphan, the widow, our past and our future. It’s knowing that God has a plan for us far greater than our own ideas.
This faith is the essence of salt.
We don’t need to lose it, we need to use it. Let’s go and enjoy being Salt together.
