Day 280 –
Would you give as much as God has given for you?
John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”
God loved us so much that He sent His Son from Heaven to this earth to be born of a virgin. Jesus would then be raised by His mother and a loving adoptive father. He would walk this earth as a boy, teenager and man, going through all the emotions and phases of a human, but just as much still God. He would heal the sick, feed the poor, speak truth to the rejected, comfort the mourning, bring peace to all people; then all people would turn their back on Him and beg for His crucifixion.
God loved us so much that He would allow His Son to be abused, beaten, mocked, spit on, nailed to a cross, and crucified unto death. And He allowed all of this so that the entire world would be saved. So all the people who had sinned against Him could have Eternal Life through Him. He did this for me, you, and everyone else.
Can you love like this?
Would you be willing to do the same for others?
Years ago I thought about this same question and for as many years as I can remember I was always dreaming about giving up my life for others to be saved, but I never wanted to risk the life of one of my loved ones. However on January 4th, 2015, as my husband and I rode in the back of a car from one hospital to another to see if our youngest child would live or die, I had peace that God had this all under control and that if it was my little buddy’s time to go, others would be saved because of him.
I can’t say I would willingly sacrifice my child for others, but I am willing to hand all my children over to God and trust that He will use them for His great purposes. This isn’t because I love the world more than my own but because I love God and I know He loves me back.
God loves you too!
Have you accepted His Son as your Lord and Savior? If you haven’t, let today be the day. Let God know of your open-hearted, Open-handed, Open-minded, Love for Him. Be willing to give up your life for Eternal life.
What are you willing to give to show your love for Him? He’s already given all for you!
