Day 286 –
Man’s plan will fall apart, but God’s plan will fall in place.
Acts 5:38-39 “So in the present case I tell you, keep away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or this undertaking is of man, it will fail; but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God!” So they took his advice,”
In all the events and projects I have ever helped to organize, I never rely on my own ideas.
Because I’m human and hugely flawed.
The only way I move forward with an idea is if I’ve prayed over it and God has given me a specific word, a sign, or He’s given me complete peace in the decision to be made.
Honestly, this is a tough road to take since most often we feel constrained by time and need a definitive answer in the immediacy. However, God knows when we wait on Him to reveal His plan, our work won’t fail and instead go far beyond anyone’s, including our own expectations.
In the beginning of Acts, Jesus had left the apostles and gone on to Heaven, but before He left He filled them with an overflowing of the Holy Spirit. With this new found gift of the Spirit, the apostles went around preaching, giving their testimony and leading many people to Christ. The council of the high priest heard what the apostles were doing and wanted them killed, but a very wise Pharisee told the others to leave them alone. This teacher realized that if the apostles were really of God, nothing would cause their work to fail; on the other hand, he also noted if these weren’t the plans of God they would fail all on their own in the near future.
As we go along the journey of life with Christ, in whatever we do, we need to keep our eyes focused on Jesus and the plans He has for us. Looking to Him in every decision we make, will cause our steps to get sturdier and the plans to flourish.
Acts 5:41-42 “Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name. And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching that the Christ is Jesus.”
