Day 303 –
Our outside may look the same, but our inside is being renewed Day by Day.
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
Three years ago this weekend we moved into a new home, ready for a new season in the journey God had us on. The home still had tons of work to be done, but we were ready for the trials and work it would take to complete. This would be our home and we were excited for the adventure ahead.
The previous owner truly had a green thumb. She was out in the yard everyday working on the greenery, pruning the flowers, and removing the weeds. She had done an amazing job on the yard and we thought it could sit for a time. However, the longer it sat, the more the flowers faded, and we realized many of the flowers had lived their full lifespan and needed to be revived by new plants.
While the work on the inside of our home took precedence, the plants on the outside began to wilt and wither away. At 6 months into the project, the interior of the home was practically complete and our life took over, forgetting about the work the outside needed. Then about one month to the year of life in our home, the Lord began to tug at my heart and the process of transforming the outside of our home began.
It’s been a slow and hard process, continually changing, but also growing into a new creation.
This same process begins when we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior. The inside changes first with the Holy Spirit coming to reside in our Life.
2 Corinthians 4:16 “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.”
It’s going to take time, but time will heal all wounds when the time is from God, and as the wounds heal, our outer self becomes remade, stronger, and ready to conquer whatever lies ahead.
