Day 308 –
Don’t give the Devil any opportunity to win.
Ephesians 4:26-27 “Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.”
Homecoming is one of the greatest nights in high school football. Alumni come back together to see one another after a long time apart. Fences that were broken become mended over lapsed time, and new memories are made and cherished under those Friday Night Lights.
Homecoming is an opportunity to come “Home” and be united as one school and one family. But as night falls, amidst the fans in the grandstands, there is still heartache, broken homes, anger, lost souls, and a devil ready to pounce on any weakened victims he can find.
Satan knows as the night lingers on and the festivities diminish, everyone will part ways again. He can continue to destroy the once unified body and steal the Joy from any willing soul.
Ephesians 4:28-32 “Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need. Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
We must choose to fight this battle with love by forgiving one another.
We can love by being kind and righting our wrongs, no longer focusing on others’ shortcomings.
When the night falls and the Friday night lights go dim, God’s LIGHT will STILL be SHINING. We need to fight the good fight as a child of God heading to our greatest Homecoming yet!
Ephesians 5:1-2 “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
There are so many opportunities to walk away from unity because of the schemes of the devil, But God gave us ONE Hope in Salvation through Jesus Christ to overcome every scheme.
So, As your day draws to an end and the darkness begins to fall, say, “Not today Satan! For Jesus invited me Home.”
