Be Thankful

Day 310 –

Don’t be anxious about anything instead be thankful in everything.

Philippians 4:6-7 “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Over my lifetime there have definitely been many things that have made me anxious and a few things that still do. However, to the contrary of what my anxiousness does to my thoughts and feelings, God says these things should cause me to be thankful.

In all actuality, God says to be thankful for everything: the good, the bad, the ugly, the sad, the beautiful, the happy, the loss and the gift, the hurt and the healing….All Things.

But why…but how?

I’ve asked myself these questions many times. That is, until I realized the truth.

First, all things are created by Him, for Him, and through Him. And what He created was good. So, shouldn’t we be thankful for His Creation….all that there is.

Colossians 1:16-17 “For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”

Second, when we set our thanks on His thoughts and His ideas by focusing on things of Heaven and not of earth, when the hard times come, our Hope will be set and the things happening around us will seem so small compared to the greatness of His gift and His plan.

Colossians 3:1-2 “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”

As we head into this month of Thanksgiving, a time to celebrate the Thanks we have for God’s provisions, why not start making a list of things that you are thankful for.

Watch as God changes your perspective and turns your anxiousness into thankfulness.

Why not continue through the next year, being thankful each day and watching as your anxiousness begins to fade away.

And the peace of God will fill your life! #givethanks
