Day 334 –
What was will no longer be, for everything will be made new.
Revelation 21:1, 4-5 “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.””
Three years ago, we were smack dab in the middle of remodeling our home. When we bought the house we knew work would need to be done, but the bones of the house were just right for our family.
The house was full of history and tons of character, but the orange shag carpet had to go.
Living in the now remodeled house I tend to forget what it looked like before, inside, all looks new, but then I walk around and hear the squeak of the old floors underneath the new carpet, notice the strip of old wallpaper missing from the side of the new columns, and walk outside to water the plants and see the paint unfinished, chipping, just in need of a fresh coat.
All of this making me realize our home isn’t new, it’s just been renewed. We can fix the paint, lay new carpet and tear down and rebuild new walls, but unless we start from scratch it will still be an old home with new touches.
The old home has character, years of love and a ton of history, but it also has a lot of little or sometimes big issues that need to be fixed.
We find this same thing with earth.
We have so many memories, history, and quite a few characters walking around every day, but there are also many problems that will continue to grow.
But God, He has promised that in the end all things will be New.
Not just fixed, but actually brand New, an entirely New Heaven and Earth.
Jesus, a carpenter or earth, has been preparing the new Heaven and Earth for us. One day, all of us, who believe in Him, will get to live there.
No more problems, no more issues, all things New!
