On the 9th Day of Christmas – God always gives us another option.
Matthew 1:19-21, 24 “Joseph, her fiancé, was a good man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly. As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife.”
Going through an entire home remodel will definitely prove to anyone that there’s always another option.
Take something as simple as paint; you can choose from hundreds of colors and once you’ve settled on a color then you have to choose from one of the twenty shades of that color and the sheen of the paint itself……But as confirmed by my friends, paint is such an easy detail to change once you’ve picked one. How about a wall? You’ve knocked down almost all of them and now you get to decide where to put the new one….and the tile you lay, they all look beautiful but once it’s down you don’t want to have to rip it up?! Beyond the paint there are many more difficult and definitely more costly decisions to make because we always have other options.
Unlike my home remodel, when Joseph found out Mary was pregnant he thought he only had 2 options: divorce her quietly or have her stoned.
But God came to Joseph in his sleep and gave him another option, marry her.
This option would be risky. This option could cost Joseph everything. But Joseph trusted God and decided to follow through with this decision.
Aren’t we all grateful he did!
In life, we all come to a crossroad, where only 2 options or sometimes even 1 seems appropriate for the situation we are in, but we need to look to God for His wisdom and seek the option He is wanting us to take.
Sometimes God’s options are in the most unlikely of places, but are the greatest option of all.
