On the 16th Day of Christmas – We have the assurance of Christ to not be afraid, but have Hope in the great news.
Luke 2:10 “but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.”
As the angel appears to the shepherds out in the field, they didn’t run to him with excitement but cowered before him in fear. This wasn’t “The Littlest Angel” with the adorable white wings and rosy little cheeks, but one with great magnitude and a multitude of light.
No wonder the shepherds were afraid, they had no idea what was to come. However, the angel said “Do not be Afraid for I bring you really good news.” And the news that angel brought would be the long awaited, best news yet to be heard in the history of the world up to that time!
The news we get here on earth isn’t always great, and the people that have to deliver it aren’t always angels. So, if we depend upon earthly news to get us through the minute, day, month, and year, we are definitely going to struggle with anxieties and disappointment over and over again.
Life just isn’t always GOOD news.
However, in this life, we can rest assured in the same good news given by the angel to the shepherds.
Every Christmas we are reminded of that news of that most wonderful gift, Jesus.
We don’t have to be afraid of the news to come from the doctor, on the tv, from the bank, or from the lawyer or judge. We need to focus on the news from the angel and the assurance of Hope that we have in Christ!
Hebrews 11:1 “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”
This Christmas, Seek the News that brings Hope to your Heart, and Keep that Gift stored there until He arrives again.
This is dedicated to my #1 Angel
