God has chosen You.

Day 363 –

God has chosen each one of us for a unique purpose.

Esther 4:14 “For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

When God formed you in the depths of your mother’s womb, placing each freckle, counting each hair, He had already written His purpose for your life.

Maybe your childhood wasn’t picture perfect or your teenage years were a big fat mess. Maybe you were orphaned like Esther, abused and enslaved like Joseph, a drunk like Noah, a murderer like Paul, a prostitute like Rahab, or an unwed mother like Mary.

No matter our past circumstances or the story we come from, each of us has been called by God for a specific reason. And this calling will affect the lives of those around us.

Think of Esther, orphaned as a child, forced to leave the one who raised her to be paraded to a King who would plausibly make her one of his concubines. Yet God chose this moment to pave her way to the throne. That’s when He called her, that’s when He gave her the choice. The choice that could mean death for her or for many. Or maybe, just maybe, she would save the lives of many.

Esther fasted, prayed, tested the waters and finally said “Yes”.

From Esther’s yes came the salvation of many.

Sometimes the purpose God has for us may have a difficult path but each twist and turn will prepare us for the call. When God spoke His calling into my life I was married with 4 children, finally filling like things were just right. I fought the call, denied it, struggled to understand. How could He use me to help the poor, free the enslaved, reveal beauty from someone’s ashes?

Isaiah 61:1-3 “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives…to comfort all who mourn…to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes…”

I prayed, fasted, sought wisdom and tested the water for years. That’s when I let go of the unknown and held tight to the One I know.

And That One, He has called YOU, too
