Chapters of Life

Each of the chapters in our lives can be LONG or extremely short. One day we can think, is this ever going to be over, and the next, where did the time go.

And within each chapter, there can be sub-chapters, and once you’ve ended one you can look back and see how God numbered each one and placed each page specifically where it needed to be.

“A person’s days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed.”

Job 14:5

Over the past 8 years of my life I’ve spent all 8 in the nonprofit world. A chapter of sorts, I guess you could say. Part of this time was spent raising funds for people and programs, and the other part in the program working with hurting people.

The pages have been filled with pure joy, a season of extreme grief, times of horrid hurt, and other periods of tremendous healing.

During this chapter, I’ve buried a child, raised 3 others, owned a home, lost a home, borrowed a home, rented a home, and rebuilt a home.

The time has allowed for seeking and finding God’s plan, gaining an MBA, seeing more of the world God has created…I love you Guatemala, and growing more and more into the woman God created me to be.

And through all of this, my family has been able to love God’s people and love all of His creation even more.

From an outside view looking in, this chapter has probably looked a bit chaotic but from the inside, it has been filled with tremendous Growth.

Honestly, feeling much like the Apostle Paul, we’ve had plenty and been in want, but never have we lost our Faith. You see, the one constant in this chapter has been and will always be, God.

This chapter may have come to an end, but my book has yet to be closed. Each chapter is just an end of one season and the beginning of another. These past 8 years have been seen through to completion, and now I find myself just moving forward to a new start in the next chapter.

Even though every chapter has a beginning and an end, it’s not THE END because God took care of the end when He gave us eternity through the death and resurrection of His Son. And He is continuing to work through us until He sees all of His Work completed for His Good.

Let the excitement and unknown of the next chapter in your life fuel you forward, utilizing all the wisdom, knowledge, and guidance from the previous seasons to give you a starting point, a platform, for launching you into the future chapter that awaits.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for the time you took to guide us and fill us in the past chapter of our life. Please continue to lead us into this next chapter, the unknown future, with your Holy Spirit as our guide. For what may be unknown to us, is always known to you. Let our future be salt and light for others to come to know your Son, Jesus. Never let us give up, but let us lean in, to strive forward into the AMAZING PLANS we have yet to see completed.

In Jesus Name,
